Underground follows the Byron-Bergen school calendar.
OUR MISSION
To provide a safe positive place for the teens (6th through 12th Grade) of Bergen to grow as members of our community, and to be a pathway to the Christian faith through the local church.
What is the Underground?
The Underground is an after school program held in the basement of the Bergen United Methodist Church. We began 16 years ago, in the fall of 2004 to provide a safe place for teens to hang out after school. The church’s youth pastor, along with several community volunteers, came together to help lead the Underground. We provide all activities free of charge, including special events; such as holiday parties, cookouts, ice cream parties, and much more. Come join the fun!
What Do You Actually Do There?
We provide two youth rooms in which youth can choose from many activities. Activities include video games, homework help, crafts, foosball, foursquare, ping pong, board games, and more.
Each day we provide a snack for all participants, with a variety of different options. We can accomodate for those who may have food allergies and/or restrictions. Be sure to let the Underground Director know if this is the case so we can accommodate your child’s needs.
How Do I Get There?
We are located right in the heart of the village of Bergen in the “underground” of the Bergen United Methodist Church. Students who live in the village may walk to the Underground with parent permission. Authorized parents and guardians may provide rides. Please note that students are only allowed to leave and return to the Underground once per day.
